Healthy Eating

At Rainbow Early Years, we understand the importance of healthy eating for young children and how it supports their growth, development, and learning. That’s why we offer an optional food programme designed in line with the EYFS Statutory Guidance 2025 for nutrition.

What We Offer

Each day, children enrolled in the programme enjoy:

  • Healthy Snack: Fresh, nutritious options to keep energy levels up between activities.

  • Hot Meal: Balanced, wholesome meals prepared to meet dietary guidelines for early years.

  • Healthy Pudding & Fruit: Delicious, nourishing options to round off the meal.

  • Drinks: Milk and water are always available to keep children hydrated throughout the day.

Families are welcome to send their child with a packed lunch, but we encourage participation in our food programme to ensure all children are receiving a balanced diet and are encouraged to try new foods.

Linking Nutrition to Learning

Healthy eating is an essential part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Good nutrition supports:

  • Physical Development: Growth, strong bones, and healthy energy levels.

  • Cognitive Development: Focus and concentration for learning activities.

  • Social Skills: Sharing meals and enjoying food together fosters social and communication skills.

Our optional food programme is designed not just to feed children but to nourish their curiosity, health, and love of learning.
